For the past 10 years, I’ve been seeking out spots in Slovakia with great views and a quality sky (minimal light pollution). Recently, I tried a location near Čierny Balog. In my opinion, right after the Poloniny, it’s the best observation spot for the eastern horizon. I was pleasantly surprised by the dark horizon, free of city lights. The constellation Orion shines in all its glory in the sky, with the bright planet Jupiter above it, and beneath the Gemini constellation, the orange Mars rising above the horizon.
