I tried to take pictures of Red Sprites from Slovakia several times this summer. Always without success. I wouldn't have thought that it would be possible on the very first night on vacation in Italy and right away the strongest airglow I've ever seen! Specifically from the beautiful Dolomites from Passo di Giau. The storm was located less than 400 km above sea level near the city of Genoa.
